Shipwrecked! A New Minecraft Series

You might have seen this posted on the minecraftforums.net on their main page, or maybe even you are a subscriber to the dead workers party youtube channel. Or just maybe you follow us on twitter.

If not, take a few minutes and watch the first 2 episodes (maybe even 3 by the time you read this —- hopefully not 4 or 5.. but even so.. just watch!) of our new series, SHIPWRECKED!

It has been a fun series to film, and we aren’t actually done filming yet. We probably have another night to film and this could end up being one of the longest series we’ve done so far.

We were trying to keep them to 10 episodes, so we could get to new content faster, because we feel that’s what people want to see. Let us know! Do you like longer series? Do we just need to start putting more than one out at a time? How are you liking the content?

Oh yeah.. and have you subscribed yet?

Mars Mission - A Minecraft Adventure

We’ve had a lot of fun with the Mars Mission by RSMALEC and we hope that you’ve had a chance to watch some of the videos we’ve created from it.

We’re going a step further than our previous let’s plays and giving a bit of a cinematic quality to them. Let us know if you like how we’ve been doing the new ones.

And if you haven’t been watching them, here are the first 3!

Voting has Started!

We’re trying to figure out a way to do this without it becoming some sort of spam fest. The Voting for the podcast awards has opened, and it’s going for 12 days, and you can vote once a day! So, PLEASE, vote, Once a day!

I don’t think there’s anything we get except for a little extra press, which always helps.

Anyways, head on over to the podcast awards, and vote for The Shaft, under the Gaming section!

Thanks!

The Invite that No One Got
Luckily. A little more about the shafties to explain. It all started when our actual plans for Ep 50 fell through, and we were thinking of ideas for something special. Boxxie threw out the idea of an awards show, and it sounded fun, and fairly easy.
So, I set up a form with a bunch of categories and started taking submissions. It was going to be something simple. Us just doing a little counting and then giving out the top 4 and then the winner.
Well, you get us all together and a room and we can take the simplest idea and turn it into something else that’s not so simple. And this was no exception. First it just turned into an audio production with some humorous bits, but then we filmed on the greenscreen and thought about what we could do for the live show. If we had only started a week or two sooner.
Anyways, so we spent all day saturday writing and brainstorming and filming. And then the next 14 hours editing and rendering. I don’t even want to talk about the issues of rendering, but it’s been the most fun editing I’ve done in awhile. I am honored to have friends and coworkers like the ones in the DWP. They amaze me at every turn.
Back to the photo though. As you can see, it says 3pm Central, which is the normal time, but after being up for so long, we decided to push the time to later so we could atleast get a few hours of sleep before going on air, so maybe fate played a part in me forgetting to post this photo on Friday before the weekend started.
In the end, it’s just a long story and a way for me to still be able to post the photo. Enjoy! Maybe I’ll change it and point it to the youtube video instead.

Mhykol on the Shaft!

Good times were had this weekend with Mhykol on the shaft, so if you haven’t listened to the episode yet, go listen! http://www.theshaftpodcast.com/

It was a LONG day at the studio yesterday. We began around 11:00 getting there and getting all the machines rolling, then at 11:30 we had a meeting with an up and coming Startcraft II commentator. We’re not sure how much of a desire there is for that sort of thing, but he’s a good guy, and good at what he does, so we’d love to give him a chance to build a bigger audience. It will also help diversify our show portfolio a bit.

Then at noon, Collin, the voice of dwp, came by and laid down some voiceovers for bumpers and segments for the new show.

Then it was time to get the show rolling. It really was a crazy seen while Eric was getting used to his new digs with the new studio arrangement, and the enderman, Boxxie moving around cameras and set dressing. There was a lot going on.

2 shows and 5 hours later, we were done. But there was still quite a bit of work to be done.

We want to streamline the process a bit, and be done with editing on Sunday, for all of our shows. So we bent to the task of doing this. Unfortunately we didn’t have all the files we needed, and ended up having to edit it at home anyways, but it was a start to see what we need.

Next we had some heavy lifting as we figured out a better place for the air conditioner to go to make it easier to drain, and hopefully circulate in the room better.

lastly, it was time to record some line for all Max for a secret project he was working.

So as you can see… it was a BUSY day at the Black Box. We manged to have quite a bit of fun in the process, and I look forward to doing most of it all over again next Sunday! Sure hope you plan on joining us at 3PM central (GMT -6). It will be the awesome Awards show! Which reminds me… GO VOTE!
